Say, did Tommy Tune write your phone ring? [ 2004-06-25, 9:42 a.m. ]

Yet another grey and cooler than normal day here in notreallysohot-lanta, the ice age must have began already. How did I miss that on Google news?

Whatever, maybe it's the lack of sunlight that has me in a rather peevish mood today, but peevish it be.

*the peevishness begins in earnest*

I'll admit that technology wise I'm somewhere back about 1997 or so. I barely can figure out how to do more than make a call and receive one on my cellphone. But that's all I need really. I have been however, mightily impressed by the sound clarity of the rings and music on the newest phones. Yet as always the technology has gone insane in the hands of the huddled masses. People are downloading friggin' broadway production numbers to play when the phone rings and play loud at that. Your phone is on your belt or in your pocket or in your purse SO WHY MUST IT BE AS LOUD AS A DAMNED ACDC CONCERT?!? And they have to let the whole song play so you can be impressed by it I guess. It won't be long before people are commissioning custom production numbers to blare out when a call comes in.

"heyyyyy Judy, you've got a call,

whether you're in the car or in the mall

heyyyy Judy, pick up the phone,

but if not we'll leave a message at the tooonnnne...

ugghh.

One of the guys who works for me has his set so it's one song for normal, another song when it's gone to voicemail, and yet others for different people who call. And they call all day long. Today may the day that phone is sent to the great beyond as I stomp it under my shoe.

*the peevishness abates somewhat*

There is actually a movie out I want to see. "Dodgeball". It appears totally goofy and stupid and slapstick and doesn't seem like it's trying to jam some crappy message down my throat. I may actually go to a theatre and pony up $7 to see that.

In other news I got gas this a.m. for $1.59 a gallon.

I can again afford to wantonly scurry around in the Green Monster again.

hooray.

*pages drips with sarcasm*
