Am I in Bizarro World? [ 2003-04-01, 6:43 a.m. ]

What a strange world we live in. The big news coverage on the war is that we are "bogged down" and "abandoning the original war plan". After 10 days? Are these reporters riding to work on the short bus? Our society is so into immediate gratification that if the war lasts more than two weeks we are "doomed to failure". Dear Lord. Wars used to take years, many years. Why there was even a Hundred Year War! Imagine that war. You fight for fifty years then they throw you a big retirement party and give you a watch and your son takes over your spot on the front. Now That's a bitch!

In less than two weeks US troops have their run of most of the country and are surrounding Baghdad and are knocking on the door as we speak. And supposedly the American people's patience is wearing out, Mr. Arnette? Maybe to hackneyed journalists like yourself, and their wishful thinking. But I am quite sure that like me, the majority of Americans are astonished at the progress and thankful that so far casualties have been at a minimum.

I am confident now, even more than ever, that Mr. Mass Murdering-Rapist-Rascist-Fascist-Hussein and his bretheren are breathing their last breaths of air.

Report the facts reporters, even when it's not good news, but keep your little biased statements to yourselves.

Listen, don't worry reporters. When this is all over you can get back to reporting about how over 50% of my paycheck is not enough for the government to steal from me and that children starve because of me. Your life will return to normal.
