a working class hero is something to be, I guess. [ 2004-06-15, 7:39 a.m. ]

It's a grey, sticky and moist morning in Guttercity. Our faithful citizen shakes off sleep and tries to start a long day of nothing much at all. Seemingly alone with his thoughts, though in reality he is in fact never alone and always surrounded by others, he is still very much alone. Coffee and chat cover an awkward moment or two and then it's off to play at working. He looks over a list he made yesterday of "projects" for the day and scowls to himself as he balls the paper up and sails it across the desk, perfectly landing in the trash can. He allows a quick smile at his display of skill.

Next it's time to scan the morning's emails. The twenty or so are sent to carefully grouped folders though never really looked at. You don't pay attention to a business email until you get the "hey, did you see my email?". "Yes" he'll say, "but I haven't had a chance to look at it yet".

A 1pm meeting becomes a 2pm meeting and then simply implodes and dissapears. Oh darn, he thinks, there goes a good napping op. The phone rings. Ugghhh, not that moron, not this early. Knowing that first comes the call then the old hag will personally come down to his office. One might think that a non-answer would lead one to figure the person might not be at their desk, but it's not clear if thinking is high on this ladies' activity list.

Therefore, he decides it's a perfect moment to run away and get another cup of sub-par coffee.

And another long, hard, day of nothing much at all, is well under way.
