a day in the life [ 2004-03-08, 8:06 p.m. ]

A bright full moon shines down on the early morning in Guttercity. The citizens awake to very alike alarms and wearily crawl from their nightly enclaves. Their eyes barely open until hit by the spray of the shower. The morning newsheads bellow the daily top ten list of foods and drinks likely to kill everyone instantly. Hmmm. I think I'll take number three and wash it down with number five.

Now careening toward their places of employment they drown out the silently screamed obscenities with the chatter of the radio and those paid to be perky and chipper. Some blast the music of their souls in hopes of sprouting a seed that makes it all seem worthwhile for a bit.

Arriving at the source of a paycheck they exchange knowing glances with the others. The unspoken "oh god here we are again" rises and falls through the useless building lifted and pulled up by the shared sighs of the worker bees.

The day, collectively wished away, falls into night once more and the magic moon takes over it's watch on the world. The weary souls of Guttercity look for a couple hours of escape before they head back into their enclaves only to shortly rise again.

And again and again.
